Brillant cut mirror

I will show the process and progress of a ventian mirror that I am making for a friend. These photos show the cut out blank with the beveled edge ground. the lathe that I used to grind the bevel and a detail of a brillant cut piece of glass I made.

Today I will post some progress shots , the center piece is acid etched , the next step is gold leafing the border and lettering. I have also started cutting the outer frame bevels for the mirror these will be brillant cut and silvered . you can click to enlarge

This picture shows the start of the gilding process these areas are white gold. the gold needs to be backed up then I will gild with 23k gold

The gold is now finished and I am working on the border, all the pieces are cut and ground and just need to be polished. The next step is silvering all the pieces.
